Microsoft’s Very Cool Hologram Games

Here comes another breakthrough in the way people communicate, thanks once again to the folks over at Microsoft. This time, they’ve developed a new technology they call the “Beamatron,“ which works with the Xbox’s Kinect device to create digital images. These images are then projected onto any physical surface. In theory, once the technology is perfected, it could be used as a method for holographic communication between groups and individuals.

Sony Highlights 3D PS3 Successes

Speaking at this year’s 3D Storytelling Conference, Sony VP Mike Hocking had some interesting news for fans and developers of 3D Gaming. Primarily, that 3D gaming wasn’t what people were using their 3D-enabled consoles for most. While Sony did move 62 million PlayStation 3 units with 3D support, the company was surprised to discover that the great majority of users aren’t watching or playing media, they were creating it.

More 3D Gear Coming to China

We talked a couple of weeks ago about China’s recent relaxing on western cinema, and it looks like the first steps necessary for bringing more big-budget Hollywood movies into the country have begun in earnest. Poly Film investment company has just announced that it is working with RealD, the company behind many of the 3D technologies currently in use at movie theatres across the globe, is bringing new tech to 100 cinemas in China.
